Special Announcements
1. New Spelling Words are in folders. Next Spelling Test will be 5/3/2010.Next Math Test will be 5/3/2010. Phonics Test 5/4/2010: Study sheets will be in folders.

2. In Math we will be moving on to basic Geometry: we will begin to identify open and closed shapes. Example: closed shapes: Circle, square, triangle. Then move on to learn how to close these shapes in hands on activities and problems. Take a few minutes each day and try to find these shapes at home or in the neighborhood . Examples: cereal boxes are rectangles: 2 long sides /2 short sides: Ask the children what shape a STOP sign is so they become familiar with the math vocabulary.


3. ON FRIDAYS: Students may take home classroom library books to read,just for practice and for fun. There is no writing assignment.

2. In Science we will continue to discuss,and read about Earth Day. The students will begin to write about how we can keep our community, school and homes more energy efficient. How we can keep ourselves and pets healthy too.


3. In Math we will be reviewing basic addition and subtraction skills.We will be returning to Math Fact families and word problems. How to choose a strategy to solve word problems. Please take a few minutes each day to review Math vocabulary terms: addition, subtraction, minus, plus, equals, fewer
4. ON FRIDAYS: Students may take home class room library books, to read just for fun. There is no writing assignment

1. Weekly test will begin April 19,2010 in Spelling and Math: New Words are in students folders. There will be a Phonics Assessment Test on April 20,2010, A STUDY SHEET WILL BE PLACED IN STUDENTS FOLDERS.
2. In Science we will begin to discuss and read about Earth Day. The students will begin to write about how we can keep our community, school and homes more energy efficient. How we can keep ourselves and pets healthy too.
3. In Math we will be moving on to tally charts, simple bar graphs and pictographs.Students will see graphs again in Science when we begin data collection for our Earth Day Projects.
