Homework Week of 4/11/2011

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

1 In Math: PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRACTICE at home our in class math lessons. This at home practice will enable the children to make connections in everyday situations. We will be reviewing basic math facts 1 through 10. Ordinals:
EX: Places on line: First,second to tenth on line.
We will be reviewing addition and subtraction sentences and how to solve word problems.

2)In Science we will move on to physical science. How things work, how we move items from place to place. Social Studies: Reviewing how to find places and directions on maps. North/South/East and West/ New York/ California

3)THERE WILL BE NO SPELLING OR MATH TEST NEXT WEEK AS WE PREPARE FOR EASTER BREAK. THERE WILL BE WORK SHEETS SENT HOME ON APRIL 20TH,2011 FOR MATH/ STUDY SHEETS FOR SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES WILL BE SENT HOME
RE-TEST IN SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES WILL BE APRIL 15th,2011/ TEST WILL BE READ TO STUDENTS

Phonics: Workbook page 161 Controlled”or”vowel words: Color the picture if the picture NAME has the SAME vowel sound as”fork’ Example: number 4 is a FORT

Math: Worksheet: REVIEW OF BASIC MATH FACTS: Write 3 times each math facts for 4,5 and 6 families: EXAMPLE: 4+0 = to 4+10=: Have children CIRCLE the doubles: 4+4=8
Please review together for 5 to 10 minutes.

Spelling: Write words 3times each: Please go down the page:

Writing: Choose 5 words in any order and write 5 sentences. Write 2 question sentences: PLEASE SKIP LINES/NUMBER YOUR SENTENCES:

EXAMPLE: Number 7=Store

Math: Write basic math facts for 7,and 8 families three times each:
Example 8+0 to 8+10= Have children circle the doubles: example: 8+8=16
Please review for 5 to 10 minutes/
You give the fact and children reply: Ex: 4+2=? LOOK FOR COUNTING PATTERNS

Spelling: Write words 3 times each

Writing: FROM PHONICS PAGE 162: Choose 4 “or” words and write 4 sentences.
Example: Did you visit the new STORE on 5th. Avenue? UNDERLINE THE “or” word in the sentence.

SCIENCE: Read again Pages B46 and B47: How you can move things?
ANSWER the Lesson Review Questions 1 and 2 ONLY on the bottom of page B47:
