SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:
1)In Math we are continuing measurement and how to measure temperature. Identify numbers on a thermometer.
2)In Science we will continue to make the connection to math by reading and practicing measuring classroom temperatures and how to keep healthy and dress properly during the Winter season.
We will begin to make a weather chart based on the chart on page C29. This will allow the children to see and make connections to writing/ science and math: making lists/ collecting and recording information. Reinforce spelling and recognition of the days of the week and recognizing numbers on a thermometer.
3)In Social Studies we will be reading about the different types of work and jobs we find people are engaged in our community. Examples: Police/fire/ doctors/ construction jobs.
4)In Religion we will continue discussing the Celebration of Catholic Schools Week. We have met our goal of raising $1,000.00 thanks to the efforts of all our students!!!!

1 In Math we are reviewing measurement and how we “ measure” temperature, what tools we use to measure temperature, what tools we use for weight and height:example we use a measuring cup to measure liquids.
2)In Science we will make the connection to math by reading and practicing measuring classroom temperatures and how to keep healthy and dress properly during the Winter season.
We will begin to make a weather chart based on the chart on page C29. This will allow the children to see and make connections to writing/ science and math: making lists/ collecting and recording information. Reinforce spelling and recognition of the days of the week and recognizing numbers on a thermometer.
3)In Social Studies we will be reading about our Nations symbols : Flag, Liberty Bell as examples.
4)In Religion we will continue discussing the Celebration of Catholic Schools Week. A school wide project we are participating in is raising funds for an orphanage in Haiti. We are asking students to donate a dollar or any change they can during the week. Please send money in an envelope PLEASE PUT CHILDS NAME AND GRADE ON ENVELOPE…..

1) We are continuing stories in Super Kids.
2) We will read a story for 2-3 days. While reading with your child ask them what the story is about. Look at the pictures together for clues to help them with the words.
3)Phonics: Please practice writing lower case letters when you are doing phonics. This practice will help developing writing skills.
4) Math: We are continuing understanding subtraction.Please continue to practice Math Facts at home so children will become more confident as we move on to subtraction sentences. At the top of each math page is an example of work covered in class.Please review the sample problem so children will become more confident when reading and solving problems.
5) Science: We are moving on to reading about and identifying living and non-living things.We will be reading about and researching different habitats.
6) Social Studies: We are continuing our reading on communities.Concentrating on different communities and cultures in New York.
7) All Homework in Science, Social Studies and Religion are to be done in Notebooks. PLEASE REMIND THE CHILDREN TO SKIP LINES AND NUMBER THEIR RESPONSES. This practice will help them develop good writing habits.

1) We are continuing stories in Super Kids.
2) We will read a story for 2-3 days. While reading with your child ask them what the story is about. Look at the pictures together for clues to help them with the words.
3)Phonics: Please practice writing lower case letters when you are doing phonics. This practice will help developing writing skills.
4) Math: We are continuing understanding subtraction.Please continue to practice Math Facts at home so children will become more confident as we move on to subtraction sentences. At the top of each math page is an example of work covered in class.Please review the sample problem so children will become more confident when reading and solving problems.
5) Science: We are moving on to reading about and identifying living and non-living things.We will be reading about and researching different habitats.
6) Social Studies: We are continuing our reading on communities.Concentrating on different communities and cultures in New York.
7) All Homework in Science, Social Studies and Religion are to be done in Notebooks. PLEASE REMIND THE CHILDREN TO SKIP LINES AND NUMBER THEIR RESPONSES. This practice will help them develop good writing habits.
8) WE WILL CONTINUE TESTING WEEK OF 11/22/2010. THERE WILL BE A MATH,PHONICS TEST AND RELIGION TEST.
